Phil Banks, Gus Bigelow, John Bloom, Lynn Ellins, Steve Fischmann, Dolores Halls, Rose Garcia, Ron Gurley, Tamie Smith and Charles Welch.
1. Call to Order: Steve Carter called the meeting to order at 11:56AM. 2. Approval of Meeting Minutes: The March Minutes were approved. 3. Announcements: None. 4. Projects: A. NMSU Board of Regents – (John Lazaruk) There is a new WEBSITE for the Regent’s minutes. (Steve Carter) At the meeting a (Javier Whscasx [?]) wanted Commissioner Slopeck to resign and a new representative to be appointed based on an article by Heath Housemann. (Article #6) (this agenda). Distance Education is over 250,000 strong. Ethics is talking about stricter average costs in legislature (John Lazaruk) The new Regents will stay. (Woodie Jenkins) The current acting President will stay until the candidate issue is resolved. B. Las Cruces City Council – (Steve Carter) The “quality-of-life” tax was discussed. (Woodie Jenkins) He brought up the fact that some people wanted “no new taxes.” C. Dona Ana County Commission – (Steve Carter) The new tax on Beer and Wine sales in the unincorporated parts of the DAC was discussed. (Woodie Jenkins) the issue of the same day registration of people who vote will be a part of the DAC elections. 5. Old Business – (Alex Burr) The report on SNMCC (things we did) has not been received. (Steve Carter) Working on them. 6. Next Regular Meeting: May 20, 2009. 7.
