2. Other Events for 2004

Two important questions to discuss “What did we do good in 2003?” and “What should we do in 2004?”

  • The City is still discussing their formation of a City Charter Review Committee, we will continue to look into that and work on getting one of our CCRC members onto the City’s Committee.
  • We will continue to work on encouraging and enforcing the “Open Meetings Act”
  • We will continue to monitor public meetings, since that has proven to be effective.
  • SNMCC will work on sponsoring neighborhood/community meetings.
  • SNMCC will work on nonpartisan groups getting the Hispanic vote, this will involve putting together an effort to target those individuals who have not participated in the political process, i.e. voter registration.
  • Look into the issue of “run-off elections,” and perhaps revisit the issue.
  • Work on more activities and events outside of Dona Ana County.

3. Website

We have not effectively used the website, but this will be something to work on in 2004.            As a     note whenever SNMCC places an ad or sends out a news release, always list the website.

4. Fundraising

  • Sally and Jack worked on getting between $2,500 and $5,000 for SNMCC.
  • We also need to go to other communities to fundraising.

5. Closing

  • There is no meeting in January, due to Annual Luncheon
  • Next official meeting will be February 18, 2004 at 11:30 am.
  • Meeting was adjourned at 1:06 p.m.

Minutes respectfully submitted by,

Vanessa Quiroz
